First of all, you can't allow yourself to be influenced by where these quiz's came from. In this particular case, the data was provided by universities and some online marketing sites and persons. All are supposed to be authorities on the subject and thus, in theory, we should take these quiz's as gospel. Well, in the real world it doesn't work like that. I don't care who the authority is. But okay, why? Why are these quiz's virtually worthless and potentially harmful?
Let's start off with why they're worthless. Everybody has a different marketing model. What works for your niche may not work for somebody else. Every buyer is different and doesn't buy things for the same reasons. Therefore, what influences one person to buy may have no effect on another. So all the data in the world is meaningless if you don't actually see what works for yourself. Taking things at face value is one of the most dangerous things anybody can do.
Here is why these quiz's are potentially harmful. There are a lot of new people coming onto the marketing scene who know absolutely NOTHING about marketing at all. They see a quiz like the one I saw today and they immediately assume that these are the only answers and that these are the things that they should do with no questions asked. If you can't see how that can be disastrous to a marketing campaign, maybe you need to go back to marketing 101 school. You NEVER take anything as gospel until you test it for yourself. A new person will NEVER do this if they're presented with the so called right answers.
I always take these quiz's with a grain of salt. And yes, I got nine out of twelve right based on my OWN experience and my OWN testing. I didn't get them right from a text book. Please, don't get me started on formalized education. Point is, take the quiz, enjoy it for what it is, but don't put too much stock in it until you actually get into the trenches and test for yourself.
